There are certain matters you must research if your trip is to be a success. These include issues addressed under Travel Requirements. There is also a minimal degree of Destination Information you should ascertain in advance of your travels.

The amount of research you must do depends on several variables. First, your travel philosophy dictates whether you want to have a well laid-out plan or prefer to be spontaneous. Secondly, the purpose of your trip will influence how much you need to know in advance. Your destination may also dictate the things you need to learn prior to travel. Another variable is your chosen mode of transportation. For example, a road trip is likely to require much more research than does a cruise. Each variable should be given careful consideration.
