SNOWBIRDING – These Are More Than a Few of My Favourite Things

January 3, 2023

Here are some of the most useful things we brought with us or found we needed along the way.

CONNECTING HANGERS AND HANGER CONNECTORS quadruple the closet space in our motorhome.

CLEAR PLASTIC TOTES that fit into the overhead compartments keep stored items safe, visible, and easy to access.

CARPET CLEANER. Small spaces seem to show soiling so soon!

iROBOT ROOMBA. Unlike the carpet cleaner, I don’t have to get on my hands and knees to use it.  I can let it do its thing while we’re out for a walk.

HAND-HELD VACUUM.  There are places Roomba can’t reach.

HAND BRUSH AND DUST PAN.  The stairs need to be swept frequently.

DOLLAR STORE NECK PILLOW to kneel on when I’m cleaning carpets and floors.

TRAC BAR, a stabilizer that improves steering and handling capabilities when cornering, in a strong wind, making wide turns in a small area, or being passed by a large commercial vehicle.

MINI BUNGEES can be used to keep drawers and refrigerator, or cupboard doors securely closed so they don’t pop open unexpectedly and spill their contents.

e6000 EXTREME TACK REPOSITIONABLE GLUE. I couldn’t remember the name of this wonderful product or where I had stored it.  I looked all through the motorhome but couldn’t see it anywhere.  So, I had to take the contents out of every cupboard and drawer.  Of course, I found it tucked under the edge of the shelf in the last cupboard it could possibly be hidden in.  Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!  But I really wanted to tell you about this glue.  It is perfect for securing picture frames in the display case which hold photos of some of the people we love.  While things sometimes fall out of other cupboards and drawers, everything in the glass cabinet remains in place even on the bumpiest of roads!

PLASTIC STEP STOOL for those of us who are vertically challenged.  I used mine while searching for the glue and when I stood on my toes, I realized I was viewing the motorhome from close to my son David’s height.  It provided me with an entirely new perspective.  Then I had to come back down to earth.

UMBRA PAPER TOWEL HOLDER. This sits on the counter and never moves unless I lift it to clean.  No glue required.  Love it.

COMPRESSOR. We’ve not yet used it but should the need arise we can be sure our tires are properly inflated.

BBQ.  When this is in use it means Gary is doing the cooking.  All I need do is make a salad.

40 QUART THERMOELECTRIC COOLER. RV fridges aren’t particularly spacious, so it’s good to have another place to keep drinks and condiments cool.  It plugs into one of the 12-volt outlets when we’re on the road, and into a 110-volt outlet when we’re parked.

CLOTHES STEAMER. I put an iron and ironing board into the motorhome basement but have not yet needed to take them out and set them up.  It’s so much easier to simply steam the wrinkles out of clothes.

PHILADELPHIA CHEESECAKE NO BAKE FILLING. Because it’s delicious and isn’t loaded with carbs.

I would love to hear about some of your favourite things that are in your RV!
